Gene is a North Carolina native, and he grew up in the farming community of Grantham, which is outside of the eastern North Carolina town of Goldsboro. After living in South Carolina for three years, Gene moved back to North Carolina in 2010 to help care for his ailing father, and he began working for our firm on January 3, 2011. After marrying his wife, Gene moved to Fayetteville where he helped open our Fayetteville office in 2018. Gene’s practice focuses on criminal defense (both felonies and misdemeanors), traffic and DWI defense, family law (including divorce, child custody, alimony, post-separation support, child support, equitable distribution, and interim distribution), wrongful death, personal injury, and general civil litigation.
In practicing law, Gene sees his role as being his client’s employee and guide tasked with helping the client navigate the legal world’s tricky waters. Gene serves his client’s needs by taking the time to research each issue carefully, offering the best possible advice and weighing all possible factors and outcomes. By approaching each matter with meticulous care and dedication, Gene does his utmost to ensure that the client is able to navigate the legal issues at hand and achieve the best possible outcome. Gene’s attention to detail, work ethic, and steadfast resolve are why people turn to him for help or protection when everything is on the line. When away from the office, Gene enjoys being an active member of the community, playing golf, traveling and cooking.
