Katie Country 97.7 and Carolina’s Classic Hits help Wood Ducks host first annual equipment drive

Kinston, North Carolina—The Wood Ducks, along with Katie Country 97.7 and Carolina’s Classic Hits 102.9 announced today they are teaming up with presenting sponsor Strickland Agner Pittman to host the Inaugural “Deck the Halls with Bats and Balls” Equipment Drive.

Beginning today and running through Friday, December 16, fans are encouraged to contribute new and gently used equipment, which will be donated to local Boys & Girls Clubs of America as well as Youth Leagues in Eastern North Carolina. Fans can drop off their donation at several locations, including the offices of the presenting sponsor of the equipment drive, Strickland Agner Pittman.

“I and the entire team at Strickland Agner Pittman are very excited that baseball is back in Eastern North Carolina where it belongs! Equally as exciting is this equipment drive and the help it will provide those in the community that otherwise may not have the proper equipment to play sports,” Billy Strickland, the Lawyer with the Hat, said. “We are proud to be a part of this community outreach program with the Wood Ducks, and look forward to many years of working together.”

Any fan that donates a new or gently-used piece of sporting equipment to the drive will be entered in a drawing to win two season tickets for the Wood Ducks’ Inaugural 2017 campaign.

“We are looking forward to gathering the community together by starting an equipment drive for area youth. We hope that by giving equipment to those that might not otherwise have it, we will spread the love of the game of baseball (and all sports) throughout the community,” Wood Ducks General Manager Wade Howell said. “The multi-year partnership with Strickland Agner Pittman extends through 2019, allowing us to continue creating a positive impact in the community for many years to come.”

Equipment collected will be donated to area youth the week of December 19. The full list of locations where fans can drop off their donations is below.

The Wood Ducks are dedicated to serving the Down East area. Earlier this month, the organization made a $10,000 donation to The Salvation Army of Kinston to assist the residents of Kinston, North Carolina who were affected by the devastating flooding from Hurricane Matthew.  The Wood Ducks also distributed $5,000 in Walmart gift cards to further assist flood victims.
